SHOW PROSPECTUS
Cooking With Connally - Where You Become The Chef! is a high school culinary arts cooking show series produced, developed, and cooked by the culinary arts students at John B. Connally High School and edited and filmed by the CHS video tech department ( http://www.CHSCougar.TV ).
The cooking show series will include 10 episodes ranging from Texas Cuisine - The Art Of Chicken Fried Steak, to Chinese cuisine, Mexican cuisine, German cuisine, Healthy Cuisine, Farm To Table, and much more.
This series is designed as a project based learning experience to give these Texas Pro Start students at John B. Connally High School a once in a life time chance to interact with industry professionals like chefs, restauranteurs, cookbook authors, cooks, and industry experts while producing a show about cooking and cuisines of the World that reinforces the Texas Knowledge and Skills required by the State of Texas these young people must learn.
The shows will allow them to research, public speak, learn food history, learn culinary techniques, learn different cuisines and cultures, learn geography and social studies while also practicing the leadership, organizational, time management, and professional skills the culinary industry demands. Each cooking show episode will be aired on our You Tube Channel, Streamed from the District web site and on this website, as well as broadcast on the local Cable station - Channel Austin.
This project is also designed as a fund raiser to get sponsors or under writers for each episode to raise money for much needed supplies such as their chef uniforms, field trips, classroom equipment, traveling to competition, and their new organic teaching garden (See attached plans). Episode 1 - Texas Cuisine - Cowboy Cuisine, The Art of Chicken Fried SteakThis show will be filmed at the Texas Beef Council with cookbook author and celebrity Texas cowboy cook Tom Perrini of Perrini Ranch Steakhouse and Russell Woodward of the Texas Beef Council in front of a real chuck wagon. Students will learn the three stage breading procedure, beef 101, meat marbling, aging techniques, and deep fry cooking method while assisting making Chicken Fried Steak and Dutch Oven Fredricksburg Peach Cobbler to celeberate State Chicken Fried Steak Day on October 26th. COME EAT OUR HOMEWORK!
